Frequently unasked questions

What is this site?

This site provides a searchable database of development times for various photographic film and chemical combinations. Currently it is geared towards black and white development. It is run by Alex Hunsley (flickr).

There's not much data on your site and it makes me grumpy

That's not a question. But anyway, more data is being added over time, and if you have any specific requests, please email me at

How about a disclaimer then?

Oh, ok then: I am not responsible for any mishap, accident or hamster shaving that occurs as a result of you using this site and data. (Although I do endeavour to get the data right, and if you do somehow end up with a souped-up hamster, let me know.)

How else will the site develop?

It would be nice if the film development timer included adjustments for a) thermometer calibration, b) off-temperature soup. It may be so.

I also would like to add some articles on interesting film techniques/hacks (e.g. redscale, sprocket love, etc.)
